Alpine Chalet

We hope you are enjoying The Beach House. For a rather different vacation, with mountains rather than sea, you might also be interested in the L’Aire de L’Aigle (The Eagle’s Nest), a beautiful chalet in the Alps. The chalet is a primarily a family home but is rented for a few weeks every year during the ski season.

The chalet is set 5km above Morzine and approximately 1¼ hours from Geneva,  in the Vallée de la Manche, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Skiing is in the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area which includes Morzine, Les Gets, Chatel, and Champery.

The chalet was completed in 2002 and is constructed from traditional materials: old wood, hand cut stone, large slate tiles and rustic plaster. No expense has been spared to create a stunning property.

The living area (sofas and armchairs) has a 3m wide fireplace and a 5m high vaulted wooden roof. A glass wall 10m long and 5m high exposes a dramatic mountain vista. The dining area has an oak dining table that seats 16. There is a wide screen television, and DVD player. Satellite reception is also possible.

All bedrooms and bathrooms have been individually designed. There are four doubles and three twins. Two of the twins can be converted to double beds. The latter can also be linked to two of the doubles to create family suites (each with two bathrooms)

There are two double garages with their own remote controls so you can drive straight in. You can enter the house direct from one pair of garages straight into the large ski room where there are boot warmers, ski racks, shoe racks, a coat hanging area, and a drying cupboard.

The kitchen has granite work surfaces double ovens, two fridge/freezers, two dishwashers and a large walk-in larder.

The huge cellar is ideal for children and has table tennis.
